Car Garage Mats Soak and Prevent Damage

By Angie Meza

When you think of ways to look after your method of transportation, you might think about how often you should wash the outside of the car, how often you should take it to get the oil changed, how you should protect carpets inside and how you should clean those bugs off the hood, for example. You often don't think about how you should protect the area that you store your vehicle in and car garage mats may be the furthest thing from your mind. However, they should be considered for all number of reasons, not the least of which is the damage that could be caused to your home over the long-term.

We tend to take for granted the weather conditions that we have to deal with and the fact that we can't do much about it. While this is very true, we have to be aware of the potential damage that could be caused by external weather to our valuable asset -- our home. When you drive your car or truck in after a trip in very inclement weather, all the muck from outside can be brought inside and can threaten a lot of damage. This is where car garage mats can help to absorb a lot of the muck, sludge, sleet, rain or snow and prevent it from subtle, but long-term damage.

As real estate is so expensive and few of us have the luxury of being able to afford a place to store our cars with plenty of room to double as a household storage unit, we tend to stack up all kinds of boxes and personal belongings in close proximity to our vehicles. This may be a productive way for us to exist and to be sure that the inside of our homes is not cluttered, but we are storing these things because they mean something to us. It's not going to be much fun when, down the road, we need to access whatever is in the boxes and find that they have been irreparably damaged by dampness.

Because arctic conditions can cause so much dampness inside the building, car garage mats are very important. Of course we can't dry the car off before we actually drive it into this room, so must ensure that we do everything we can to collect the mud and rain water before they cause a big problem to the content stored in our boxes. Absorbent mats are tailor-made for this job.

A car garage mat is made from polypropylene, which is very absorbent material. All the residue that drops off will be caught by the mats, regardless of the volume concerned. The product can hold gallons at a time and as things dry out, all of this will evaporate.

Unless you treat your concrete floor, it will be susceptible to damage. Few of us treat in this way so you should put car garage mats underneath each vehicle that you store instead. They are pleasant to look at as well and will make the room far less boring and plain. You may have more than one vehicle to store and you should treat yourself to more than one mat. They can be configured in size accordingly.

If any surface gets wet, it can be dangerous and an area that you could slip and fall. Within the garage, this risk is enhanced and car garage mats are made to counter this threat. They are purpose made with a nonslip base made out of vinyl, which just will not skid.

The recent recession has caused many of us to lose 25 to 30% of the value of our homes. Value your home as best as you can from now on and don't do any more damage to it than you can. By putting car garage mats in place, this room will look, feel and be valued more highly by prospective purchasers in the future.
