UPVC Doors Are Better

By Martin Troughton

UPVC has become quite popular over recent years, and this phenomenon is not without reason. They are more durable, environmentally and economically friendly, and are even safer. Some may believe a door is a door, but UPVC doors have proven otherwise. These days, conservation is key and everyone is trying to save money wherever they can. A door that is not only less expensive, but can will also save money at every turn, can do nothing but help.

The most durable type of door used in modern construction is UPVC. They are made with longevity and durability in mind. They even look better as they age. Just as vinyl siding has proven its worth over the years, UPVC, which is made from the same materials, will also last. Those in the know say that UPVC, in normal conditions, will last over 40 years.

UPVC is extremely easy to maintain. Maintaining the looks of UPVC is a fairly easy thing to do; generally nothing is required but a good pressure washing. To stay looking nice, wooden doors have to be treated, sealed, and often retreated with certain types of expensive chemicals. Not so with UPVC. These doors will not rot like wood, nor are they susceptible to corrosion like metal doors.

UPVC doors are safer than others. A little known fact is that the most common cause of death in home fires is actually not burns caused by the intense heat. As humans, our outsides are far more resilient than our insides. The most common cause of death in a home fire is smoke inhalation, or to be more specific, carbon monoxide inhalation. Unlike wood, UPVC does not readily burn, nor does it retain heat, which means that in the catastrophic even of a fire in the home, anything made of UPVC will not be contributing to an already dangerous situation.

Doors with UPVC are even extremely environmentally friendly. There are actually a few different ways in which they help the environment. For one thing, they are made up of something that is literally all over the earth in volume. This resource is everywhere. Over half of the building material of UPVC consists of salt. This means that a UPVC door will use less than half the non-renewable resources as an inferior door.

These excellent doors will even save you money! They're cheaper to ship since they're lighter, and they are generally far less expensive than other types of doors. One of the reasons they are so light is because they begin their lives completely hollow. By the time they are shipped, they are filled with material that helps insulate the home from outside air. Whether keeping the warm air in or out, the best job is done by UPVC. Even the spot where the door meets the frame, the seals are better than what one would find on a less advanced door. Another fact that helps keep costs down is that UPVC can even be recycled.

A home owner really cannot go wrong with a UPVC door. There's no mystery as to why UPVC is the top choice of remodelers and home builders in most major countries.
